Opening doors and celebrating life at Warrens Hall

Care Home Open Week gave us a wonderful opportunity to showcase the warm, welcoming and vibrant community that exists at Warrens Hall every day, while opening our doors to families, friends, prospective residents and anyone interested in learning more about life in a modern care home.

The national initiative encourages care homes across the country to connect with their local communities, challenge perceptions of care and demonstrate the positive experiences, opportunities and support available to older people. This year's event also embraced a World Cup theme, bringing people together through shared experiences, conversation and fun activities.

Whether visitors were exploring care options for themselves or a loved one, looking to better understand dementia care, or considering a career within the sector, the week provided an insight into the values, relationships and sense of belonging that make Warrens Hall such a special place to live and work.

The celebrations began with our Great Warrens Hall Bake Off, which brought out some incredible creativity from participants who embraced the football theme with enthusiasm. Residents took on the important role of judges, carefully sampling a fantastic selection of homemade bakes and helping to crown the eventual winners. The event created plenty of laughter and conversation while showcasing the strong community spirit that runs throughout the home.

Across the week, residents also enjoyed a busy and varied programme designed to support wellbeing, encourage social interaction and create meaningful experiences. Our Get Moving session and physiotherapy talk with iCares provided valuable information about maintaining mobility and independence, while our coffee morning and Meet the Team event gave visitors the chance to spend time with residents and learn more about the dedicated people who support them every day.

One of the week's highlights was our Match Day picnic, complete with live entertainment, which created a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere for residents, families and guests to come together and celebrate.

Alongside this, our World Cup themed pub quiz sparked plenty of friendly competition, while our Through the Decades music day inspired residents to reminisce, share memories and enjoy some of their favourite songs from years gone by.

Supporting families remains an important part of the care we provide, which is why our dementia awareness talk, delivered by our Dementia Champion, formed a key part of the week's activities. The session offered practical advice, reassurance and guidance for those supporting loved ones living with dementia, helping visitors gain a deeper understanding of the condition and the ways meaningful support can make a difference.

Care Home Open Week may only come around once a year, but the values it celebrates are reflected in daily life at Warrens Hall. Creating opportunities for residents to remain active, enjoy fulfilling experiences, maintain friendships and stay connected to the wider community sits at the heart of everything we do.

It was a fantastic week filled with conversation, learning, laughter and togetherness, giving visitors a genuine insight into the caring, supportive and engaging environment that residents enjoy at Warrens Hall every day.
